Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 1 hour
Servings: 6
Ingredients
1 cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
2 pounds ground beef
1 cup ketchup
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 eggs, medium size
1 onion, chopped
1 ½ teaspoons salt
For Sauce:
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
¼ cup water
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ cups ketchup
Directions
1- Lightly butter 9x5” loaf pan & preheat your oven to 350 F/175 C.
2- Mix beef together with 1 cup ketchup, onion, eggs, bread crumbs, pepper & salt in a medium size bowl. Place the beef mixture in the already prepared loaf pan & press the mixture into a loaf.
3- Over medium heat in a large saucepan; mix the brown sugar, together with 1 ½ cups of ketchup, vinegar, water, Worcestershire sauce & mustard; cook & stir for 8 to 10 minutes, until the sauce is warm & smooth. Transfer approximately 1/3 of the sauce on top of the meatloaf.
4- Bake in the preheated oven for an hour or little longer, until the meatloaf is cooked through & the instant-read thermometer reflects 160 F/75 C, when inserted into the middle; basting the loaf after every 25 minutes with more of sauce. Let cool in the pan for 8 to 10 minutes before slicing the meatloaf into pieces.
